Good point, Sarah, but doesn't that only reach school-age kids?

The closest modern equivalents I've seen to Little Golden Books all seem to have some brand-name recognizable character like Dora or Disney's Cinderella. So I was wondering if there are just plain old picture books with good stories and decent art (like Margaret Wise Brown's the Golden Egg Book) that are available for sale in places like Target and local grocery stores? "

Walmart, Target, and Shopko all carry reissued classic Little Golden Book titles including the Poky Little Puppy, Saggy Baggy Elephant, Shy Little Kitten in addition to what I call "new classics" such as Richard Scarry's Best Little Word Book Ever. They retail for $2.20 for a single copy or they do have box sets and compilations.&nbsp; In addition I have seen board books of Good Night Moon, Runaway Bunny and even a favorite in our household, Little Gorilla. In addition, each of these retailers usually carries some contemporary picture books. Kitten's First Full Moon and other titles by Kevin Henkes are almost always face out .
