Sketchpads at the Newbery/Caldecott Banquet
Please forgive the cross posting. Please feel free to repost elsewhere.
What on earth were those sketchpads being passed around at the Newbery/Caldecott banquet about?
As you many of know, I passed out sketchpads and art supplies with the goal of getting the signature of everyone at the event. The point was to document and this incredible and historic award year with the eventual goal of archiving it and writing a book about it.
I think I came close to getting everyone to sign... in addition to the drawings and names I collected during dinner... I also sent the books through the recieving line (and the people waiting to meet those in the receiving line), and passed the books around the ALA awards and membership meetings, the Printz Awards reception, and the exhibit hall. I also hung around at the end of the banquet and collected table names, name cards, tickets, extra programs, etc.
I'm in the process of posting what I collected and each page of the sketchpads at my new blog: Banquet Art. http://banquetart.wordpress.com / If you can identify any signature or drawing (or if you were the one who drew it), please post it in the comments section of that page. Also, if you have a list or photos of who else was at your table, seating charts, name tags, or anything else from the evening that you are willing to part with, please send it to me.
If you weren't there.... or even if you already signed one of my books.... if you'd like to write down your thoughts, create a drawing, a poem or anything else about your feelings about the evening, the awards or anything else, please send it to me at:

Thank you so much! -Susan
