SLJ has a "Focus on Mysteries" article in the July issue. Some of the new series that our readers are enjoying are The Red Blazer Girls by Michael D. Beil and The Brixton Brothers by Mac Barnett. The latter has gotten a lot of publicity, but I would really like to plug The Red Blazer Girls. These are mysteries set in a private girls school in New York City. The girls need to figure out puzzles and riddles on their way to solving the mysteries and the relationships among the girls and with their friends at a nearby all boys school are also important to the plot. The second one has just come out and I can't wait to get it in our readers' hands. Lots of fun for fourth to eighth graders!
