RE: Graphic novels

Lisa, the same is true here in the States. There are also specialty bo ok stores that have only graphic novels and comics. Usually the novels are org anized by age-level and sometimes by style. I hope someone will shed light on why this is so.

One thing that intrigues me about graphic novels in both libraries and book stores (well, the ones I visit) is that the books are often shelved tog et her, regardless of the topic, genre or age level.

Is this because there are relatively few of them at present? Or do they con stitute a genre all of their own? Will they eventually be intermingled with the other books in their classification e.g. science fiction, teen fic ti on, crime fiction, reference etc?

Perhaps this is just a New Zealand phenomenon. Does this happen in your lib rary or bookstore?
