At the school where I work, (Little Red in the village in NYC) we are constantly looking for new picture books that showcase lgbt families. For the last 5 years or so, teachers have been asking for more books that have 2 dads or 2 moms just as a matter of course, instead of as the main focus of the book. Middle grade and YA books are easier to find where this is the case (Luv Ya Bunches, The Popularity Papers, etc.)

We use the Todd Parr books and we have every picture book that has been published that we can get our hands on with 2 moms or 2 dads. For books talking about family structure as a focus, our favorite is Molly's Family, by Nancy Garden.

If anyone has insight into more up and coming books where lgbt families jus t are, I would love to hear about them!
