The PEN Children's/Young Adult Authors Committee will host a panel featuring authors David Almond, Francisco X. Stork, Janne Teller, and Ed Young as part of the 6th Annual PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature. Join us for "A Gathering of Voices" on Thursday, April 29, at the Instituto Cervantes, 211-215 East 49th Street, from 7-8:30 p.m.

The authors will talk about their work and its sources. Each author is rooted in and has found inspiration from a specific culture--in England, Mexico, Denmark, and China. How do their roots influence how they speak to children? Which subjects seem right? How have influences from other cultures affected them, and in what ways do they approach universal themes--and taboos? This lively panel will be moderated by Elizabeth Bird, author and senior children's librarian with New York Public Library's Children's Center at 42nd Street. Admission is free and no tickets are required, but be sure to come early to get a seat!

The PEN World Voices Festival will host 150 writers from 40 countries at more than 50 events. It's an exciting week-long celebration of books and writing from around the globe. A stellar line-up of emerging and established authors including Sherman Alexie, Roddy Doyle, Toni Morrison, Salman Rushdie and Patti Smith will take the stage in venues across New York City and several satellite locations from San Francisco to Washington DC. Don't miss this exciting cross-cultural literary exchange, featuring conversations, panels, performances, readings, a translation slam and an all-star Cabaret night!
