Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April is International Children's Book Day (ICBD). Established by IBBY, the day was created to to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books. http://www.ibby.org/index.php?id&9 On the USBBY community of ALA Connect there is a place to post ways to celebrate International Children's Day. You do not have to be a member of ALA or USBBY to contribute ideas. http://connect.ala.org/node/98990 You can register on the site to become a member of the community, or post without joining the community.
