Last fall our library's programming wizard initiated a monthly puppet show called "Once Upon a Time...." Our local professional theater group, Vertigo Theatre, presents a puppet show based on a classic fairy tale. We offered four shows last fall and starting next week we will offer another four monthly shows beginning with The Emperor's New Clothes. We hold a drawing for a collection of tales at each performance. This season's beautiful book is Classic Fairy Tales retold by Berlie Doherty, illustrated by Jane Ray, Candlewick, 2009. We have two performances of each show. The series is funded in part by a grant from the Michigan Center for the Book. We set out about 40 fairy tale books during each presentation and hear, "I didn't know that was a fairy tale!" more than once.
We don't have room to move our 398s to the picture book shelves (a great idea) so we recently put a sign on top of the last picture book shelf stating where the 398s are located.
The end.
