Sally, I also enjoyed "My Abuelita" and found myself almost typing "Mi" instead of "My" as well. I loved how Morales really diversified her repertoire by creating something completely different than her previous book illustrations. Her carefully crafted dolls, animals and backgrounds give the feeling of looking into a miniature house as each page is turned. She made the characters come to life with rich colors and motion, and they seemed so tangible I could imagine a youngster reaching out to touch the pages.
