I could not post this before today because the hips are gone. Lucille Clifton died on 2/l3. Our friendship goes back to the l980's when Myra Cohn Livingston and I invited Lucille to be on an IRA program. We immediately fell in love. I often asked her to read her 'homage to hips' quoted in the NY TIMES obituary...no one could read it like she did. We had the same agent, the incredible Marilyn E. Marlow; we spent so many laughing moments together.

Gwendolyn Brooks called her a 'warmwisewoman.' I'd add 'warmwisewonderful.' I miss the hips.

God rest my beloved friend.
