I had the great opportunity to review Going Bovine in the New York Times. I have been a fan of the book since reading a galley in July. Mostly I just couldn't believe it. The realistic language and social satire that reminded me of Tom Robbins crossed with Fast Times at Ridgemont High. A Don Quixote-like adventure with more than a little Wizard of Oz thrown in. It shouldn't have worked but I just couldn't put it down. The Times style will not allow the reviewer to say "piss in your pants" funny. I wonder why. I really can't think of another phrase that describes how funny it is. And again...a book about a dying teen... its just wrong, yet I laughed and kept reading. =going%20bovine&st=cse
