I'm a middle school librarian.В  This is an issue I struggle with.В I haveВ kids who read books like this all the time . . . even some of the 6th graders.В It's frustrating for me to not have books that my kids are talking about.В В I'd love to have this book, and others o f its ilk, on my shelves, but this one has lots of "language,"В not to В mention drug references.В Which I don't mind, but, of course, som e of the parents in my district would.В  To me, there's nothing inВ Going BovineВ that would shock or surprise a single kid in my school exposed toВ much, much worse.В  It'sВ their world.В В Having said that, I'd certainly like to think younger el ementary kids wouldn't have been exposed to all of this yet.В  However, I doubt any of them would want to read the book.

I have loved the descriptions I've read about Going Bovine .В

I'd love input from folks who've read it whether you'd include this in a K- 8 collection.В  The reviews are mainly 14+, but that includes many 8th graders.В  What are your thoughts? Do you think 8th graders will enjoy this?
