Meghan, half of the members of the Sibert Committee are nominated to run on the Spring ballot in the ALSC/ALA election. ALSC members vote, and those who receive the highest number of votes are elected to the committee. The other half of the members and the chair are appointed in the Fall by the ALSC President.

If you are interested in serving on this -- or any other ALSC committee -- and are a member of ALSC, you can do one of two things:

1) Fill out a form to send the Chair of the Nominating Committee, indicating your interest in running for President, Board, Newbery, Caldecott, Sibert or Wilder

2) Fill out a Volunteer form and send it to the ALSC office or the ALSC president.

The forms for both can be found on the ALSC website at:

If you want to know more about the process, you can also find the Sibert Committee Manual on the ALSC website.

Cheers, KT
