Mock Caldecott in RI

Hi everyone... The clock is ticking as the committees pack their bags for Boston! This past Monday, I had the honor of presenting a Mock Caldecott in Cranston RI for about 20 children's librarians. Winner: The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney Honor Books: 14 Cows for America by Carmen Deedy, illus. by Thomas Gonzalez The Negro Speaks of Rivers by Langston Hughes, illus by E.B. Lewis Red Sings from Treetops by Joyce Sidman, illus. by Pamela Zagarenski

Also considered noteworthy was Mermaid Queen by Shana Corey and illus. by Edward Gotheringham.
