A young adult book that I don't think has received due attention is *The Stolen One* by Suzanne Crowley. It is a mystery, love story, self quest, beautifully detailed piece of historical fiction that doesn't read like historical fiction. While this is my favorite genre, I realize it isn't everyone's, but even the teens I know (who don't usually like historical anything) who've read the book liked it and were glad it had been pointed out to them. First of all, who IS Kat? She knows she does not belong to Grace, the woman who raised her, but no one will ever tell her anything about the truth about her beginnings. When Grace dies (under mysterious and supernatural influences), she grabs the chance to go to London and try to discover something for herself. The mystery and romance will draw readers in, and the lush historical detail about Queen Elizabeth I's court and the private inner workings of her wardrobe will keep their interest stoked.

The book received good reviews in the major journals as well as good notices in pop magazines such as *Seventeen*. The sentences flow smoothly together, the organization is easy to follow, and the setting and details were carefully researched, edited, and documented. You won't want to miss this one, even in a year with as many winners as this one has.
