So, again, anecdotally, I mentioned to one of my fifth grade friends yest erday that I had a copy of the sixth 39 Clues he could have since my own 39 Clues reader had finished it. This boy is in my daughter's book club but his mother tells me she has to pretty much hold a bayonet to his back to get him to read. He was at the door after school dismissed today. He had run here from his house. Gave him the book and he sprinted off again. This is powerful evidence to me that whatever the mix is, the 39 Clues is attracting readers. To which I say, bravo.

Hi Nick—
If I go by circ figures alone, the 39 clues books are checkingout like gan gbusters. I think bookstores can attest to the popularity by thesales figu res as well.
Certainly, I think the multimedia platform helps sell the book. Theseparti cular books have game cards included which help the reader decipher the my sterybut they are not essential to the reader’s enjoyment of the story. IMO, allthe bells and whistles here speak to the multitasking abil ity of the Millennialgeneration and this is a big draw. Whether or not the books are turning kids onto reading is anyone’s guess. I do know that the books are bringing theminto the library and that’s a goo d thing.
