Many knew her as a grand dame of the library world.

I knew that, too.

But I also knew Effie Lee -- the woman -- the gracious, kind woman with a laugh that resonated through a room -- the wondrous woman who could hug like no one else -- the woman with an incredible sense of couture.

I imagine Effie and Augusta Baker catching up on things now -- both heartily laughing, hugging, and talking about what they were going to wear at an upcoming ALA.
