This PW article answers a lot of questions I had about the rationale for St itches in the Young People's Literature category.

I didn't realize the publisher could select the category for nomination of a book. I would guess this was a pragmatic decision, and they feel Small i s more likely to win or be shortlisted in the YA area versus adult nonficti on.

I love this book. I'm waiting to see what our teens think, but I'm betting many will love it as well.
