The 43rd Annual Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival April 7-9, 2010 The University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg
Deadline for Submission: November 10, 2009
Notification of Acceptance: December 10, 2010
The mission of the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival is to recogniz e excellence in the field of children’s literature and to provide librari ans, teachers, researchers and community members the opportunity to learn a bout and appreciate children’s literature through presentations, workshop s, and personal interactions with people of significance in the field.
In accordance with this mission, the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festi val at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Library and Informa tion Science is inviting submissions for papers or presentations to be pres ented at the 43rd annual festival to be held April 7-9, 2010 on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.
We invite abstracts (of approximately 500 words) for 45-60 minute sessions that are of professional interest to our attendees. Each year the School of Library and Information Science hosts the three-day Festival which include s the most notable names in children’s literature. Average attendance is around 450 children’s librarians, school media specialists, and faculty i n library science and literature from around the Southeast.
The 2010 USM Medallion winner is David Wiesner. General session presenters currently include Maureen Johnson, Lulu Delacre, Charles Ghinga and Dan Yac carino. More presenters are currently being added to the lineup.
Proposals must be sent electronically to the Festival Director, Dr. Cathari ne Bomhold (Catharine.bomhold_at_usm.edu ; cb omhold@yahoo.com ) on or before November 10, 2009 . Receipt of proposals will be confirmed via email within a few days of sub mission. Authors of accepted proposals will receive notification via email on or before December 10, 2009.
