Among those authors whose may be consdered "cross over" surely one must include Walter Dean Myers, particularly Fallen Angels and its unflinching depiction of the horrors of the Vietnam Conflict. One might also consider "Monster", with its insights into the "racial profilifng" that is often noted in our society
