I have frequently used adolescent novels as a way to entice "busy" adults - - often teachers that don't do a lot of pleasure reading. (There are actua lly teachers who don't like to read!) The length and the easy reading level grabs them and then they enjoy it! The Giver is one of those kind of books.
The concept of mother-daughter, father-son, or parent-child book clubs also speaks highly of the interest for adults in even children's materials.
Personally, I have some picture books that are the most meaningful books I have read -- in my adult life! Grandfather's Journey comes to mind. Erlene
