Hi:
I recently read Paper Hearts by Debrah Williamson. It's marketed as an adult book, but it really struck me as YA. It's about a teen girl, Chancy Deel, who runs away from her abusive mother and meets an elderly man with sadness of his own. They help each other reinvent their lives.
Has anyone hear of this being used with teens? -- Pat Zietlow Miller www.patzietlowmiller.com

John Coy's Crackback had broad appeal to an intergenerational crowd at a middle school book club event I attended. So many men played football that they really connected with the theme and characters. It resulted in a very interesting group discussion when the bus drivers, professional career parents, and a number of moms who had known nothing about football politics all got into the debate with their 7th and 8th graders over the book.
