Although it's an older title, Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game is a book that was originally marketed for an adult audience, but now has a children's/YA edition.
Some years ago, I remember asking a librarian to order Jane Yolen's _Briar Rose_ for the YA section. When it came in, someone put it up with the regular new books, and it apparently circulated so well among adults that it ended up in that section instead.
