Graduate Student Ambassadors Wanted The mission of the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival is to recogniz e excellence in the field of children’s literature and to provide librari ans, teachers, researchers and community members the opportunity to learn a bout and appreciate children’s literature through presentations, workshop s, and personal interactions with people of significance in the field.

In accordance with this mission, the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festi val at the University of Southern Mississippi has instituted an Ambassadors program. Four graduate students in the field will be chosen to receive fre e registration and housing in exchange for volunteer service during the fes tival. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to meet and work wit h people of significance in the field of children’s literature, hear spea kers, and attend workshops relevant to the field.

CBF Ambassadors Program The Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival at the University of Southern Mississippi seeks applicants for its Ambassadors program. The program prov ides free registration to the three day event and two nights of shared hous ing in exchange for 8 hours of volunteer service at the festival. Meals and travel expenses are not included.

Purpose The purpose of the Ambassadors Program is to increase national awareness an d appreciation of the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival by aspiring graduate students in children’s literature and/or library services to ch ildren. It will also provide the Book Festival with a mature, reliable volu nteer workforce who can become staunch supporters of CBF as they progress i n their careers.

Qualifications Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ALA accredited MLS or MLIS prog ram or an active PhD candidate in children’s literature or library and in formation science. They should have demonstrated experience in or knowledge of children’s literature and/or library services to children. Completed class work can be considered in lieu of work experience.
