[CCBC-Net] "Library without books"

Does anyone who is a dyed-in-the-wool fan of books on computer ever think about what happens to the body and to the eyes when a person sits all day at a computer? My eyes hurt by the time I'm through reading the worthwhile email; and I just can't believe that staring at a glowing screen--of any size--for prolonged periods is good for anyone, including children. Yes, it's a way to make books available to people who would not otherwise be able to read them--a miraculous way, one might say. But I can't see it as a way to absorb most, if not all, of one's reading material. Books--paper, hold-in-the-hands books-- are one of humankind's great accomplishments.
