They're not picture books, but Lenore Look's (fantastic, fabulous, hilarious) younger reader Alvin Ho books.

Lenore Look is a favorite of mine. In my children's lit class, we pair Ruby Lu, Brave and True with either Ramona the Brave or Ramona the Pest, to explore two sometimes-humorous, sometimes-serious explorations of children interacting with siblings and with school. In addition to her two Ruby Lu books, Look has written two picture books about another charming character, Jenny -- _Uncle Peter's Amazing Chinese Wedding_ and _Henry's Half-Moon Birthday_ (both gloriously illustrated by Yumi Heo).
