With my book club, we re-read WH---most of us had read it decades ago-- and then viewed a new Masterpeice Theatre production. I have to say that veiwing the movie, I was able to sympathize with Heathcliff and Cathy, while in this re-reading of the book, I could not. In the reading this time, I found no sympathetic characters and really had to force myself to read on. The movie was true to the book, yet the interpretation given by the actors really gave me a different understanding of the characters.
I am wondering about this. Has anyone else compared these two?
