The one movie I preferred to the book is Hours (Michael Cunningham). I didn't read The Reader (Bernard Schlink) nor Atonement (Ian McEwan), loved the films, and can't imagine liking the books more than the film versions. You can enlighten me, however! I think the Canadian made-for-TV version of Anne of Green Gables and sequels by Kevin Sullivan starring Collen Dewhurst is so very lovely, of course so are the books, but if you give me a blizzardly weekend, I'll watch the DVDs.
