Though I often want to read a book after I've seen the movie, I can't think of a single time I want to see the movie after I've read the book. Occasionally the movie does the book justice, but most times it fails to capture the essence of the book, and I find myself disappointed. When my son was about five (it's his 31st birthday today), he asked me which I preferred -- to watch a movie or read a book. Then, before I could answer, he said, "You'd rather read a book, right? Because then you get to make your own pictures."
How right he was.
