I just want to say I am THRILLED to see this as the discussion topic for the next couple of weeks. I've known Perry for many years on child_lit, think his text on the Pleasures of Children's Literature the best there is, and found The Hidden Adult to be absorbing and challenging reading. Having often considered myself the problem with adults ostensibly writing for something they aren't, I appreciated enormously Perry's detailed delineation of this whole concept of the hidden adult.
