My recommendation:
Briggs, Patricia:
Mercedes ("Mercy") Thompson series. Mercy is a Native American shapeshifter who was raised by Werewolves. The series is set in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state in an alternate world in which Werewolves and certain types of the fae have been forced to reveal themselves to the public. The series follows Mercy, a VW mechanic by trade, as she learns her true nature and is caught up in the affairs of the local werewolf pack, led by Adam, the Alpha who lives next door, and the local vampire seethe, a member of which she has befriended.
1. Moon Called 2. Blood Bound 3. Iron Kissed 4. Bone Crossed 5. Silver Borne (Not yet released)
I've pointed quite a few teen readers to this series, and all have come back with positive comments.

Hi,
I started a list before school ended this spring. Here are some of our teens' favorites. Some of them like the vampire romance angle, and some like the "creatures of the night" adventure aspect. I see right now a glaring omission: Blood and Chocolate, by Vende Velde! I'm sure there are many more, and I look forward to adding to this list!
Now I'm off to ALA! Yay!!

**The popularity of Stephenie Meyer's /Twilight/ series has left many readers clamoring for more. But more what? Passion? Romance? Vampires? Over the next week or so, we invite you to talk about books /Twilight/ fans are enjoying-or you think they'd enjoy--now that Bella and Edward's story has been concluded.
