If Kristin is interested in new books for boys I'd recommend 4 from the Class of 2K9 which are likely to appeal to middle grade boys.

Secrets of the Cheese Syndicate by Donna St Cyr who lives relatively close to Kristin in Baton Rouge.

When the Whistle Blows by Fran Cannon Slayton

Watersmeet by Ellen Jensen Abbott

and Operation Redwood by S. Terrill French which you will recognize from Notes from the Hornbook.

You can find out about the books at the class website where you will find book club kits with discussion questions, games, and recipes for each of our 22 debut novels.

Also check out our Authors-To-Go program. It's our way of thanking teachers and librarians for supporting literacy with a free chat room or Skype visit. I'll be doing one of these from my treehouse tomorrow for the Latah County Library summer reading program. It's easy, fun and not very time-consuming. I hope you'll give it a try.
