I've been waiting for this topic to arrive. I cannot contain my enthusiasm for ---
Ida B ...and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World by Katherin Hannigan!!!
Dear, sweet Ida B is in that long line of wonderful girls that would include Pippi Longstocking, Ramona Quimby, and Katie John, all full of energy, doubts, and spirit! Everything isn't so neat and tidy for Ida B as she deals with realities of today's world but she is a heroine of her time just like those book characters I loved as a girl or as a mother when my daughter was small. Thank goodness for writers who love to write about strong, independent, troublesome girls! Erlene

I'ts time to start our discussion for the second part of June:
*
* Character-Driven: Favorite Characters in Children's and Young Adult Literature.
You know who they are. The characters that stand out because of, or sometimes in spite of, the story of which they are a part. Characters that live on in your imagination long after the story ends. Do you have old friends from childhood whom you met in the pages of a book? Who are the welcome new acquaintances in your life?
