LONG before Waldo appeared there was WHERE'S WALLACE? written and illustrated by Hilary Knight (Simon & Schuster). Knight's book appeared in 1964; Handford's in 1987!
  There is a spread in Knight's book with Wallace on a beach, quite similar to Handford with Waldo on a beach.
  This is all quite interesting. Wallace and Waldo? Coming from Waller!
