I appreciate that Marla Frazee chose a cartoony style for A Couple of Boys Have the Best Day Ever, complete with a cover that looks like a comic book. The story itself is very respectful of children?s true feelings about what constitutes fun, often activities not favored by adults. Kind of like reading comic books! It?s an excellent example of what the Caldecott criteria defines as ?appropriateness of style of illustration to the story, theme or concept.?
