I generally lurk on this list but had to tell you...you are not alone, Wendy. I *adored* Twenty Heartbeats and told anyone I could that it should win/should have won the Caldecott. It met all the criteria in spades! The art work medium became part of the story and the story was enhanced by the artwork. It was an outstanding page-turner and, in my opinion, should have won.
