Early each year we devote time on CCBC-Net to discussing the recently announced American Library Association Children's and Young Adult literature award winners and honor books in greater depth. The schedule for discussing the 2009 ALA awards sponsored by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and/or the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is below.

February 4-10: Randolph Caldecott Medal (distinguished illustration) February 11-17: John Newbery Medal(distinguished writing) February 18-24: Mildred L. Batchelder Award (outstanding translated book) February 25-28: Theodor Seuss Geisel Award (distinguished beginning reader)
March
March 4-10: Pura Belpr? Author and Illustrator Awards (outstanding book by Latino author and aritst) Mach 11-17: Robert F. Sibert Award (distinguished informational book) March 18-24: Michael L. Printz Award (literary excellence in young adult literature) March 25-31: Coretta Scott King Author and Illustrator Awards
(outstanding book by Black author and artist)
April
First two weeks: Audio Books and the 2009 Odyssey Award.
Second two weeks: Promising Newcomers, including the 2009 William C. Morris Award (promising debut by young adult author), and Coretta Scott King John Steptoe/New Talent Award
(promising Black author or artist).
