Forgive me if you receive this twice. I am having a little computer issue. Robin

I held my first Mock Geisel Committee this year. My sixteen second graders took their job as committee members seriously and engaged in discussions that astounded me. After they read and evaluated the books for themselves, the students took their books to a kindergarten classroom and watched these brand new readers read and talk about the books, too.
We went through the whole process and, though we did not actually reach the kind of consensus a real committee would have to reach, we did find a winner!
This was a tremendous learning experience for me and I encourage any of you who teach younger children to start saving potential Geisel titles now and run a discussion next January.
