One of my favorites of 2008 is "A Curse Dark as Gold," debut novel by Elizabeth Bunce. This YA fantasy retells the Rumpelstiltskin story with a wonderful strong heroine, Charlotte Miller, struggling to keep the family's woolen mill in operation.
