[CCBC-Net] Octavian Nothing

If we don't offer teen readers the occasionally challenging book, we are depriving them of a world of fascinating literature out there. Remember all the kids who came into the library with an assignment to read a chapter book, and it had to be at least 120 pages? Most of them took on the delightful challenge of reading Harry Potter, and realized that they could tackle 300 pages!

As a follow-up, if reading the first book wasn't pleasurable, try the audiobook. [Listening Library, narrated by Peter Francis James] Somehow hearing the language of Colonial America is more fun than reading it. I found both books to be fascinating and read and listened to the first one and have read the second title with plans to listen to the audiobook version in February.

Vicki, would you mind elaborating? What about the first _Octavian Nothing_ book made it a less than satisfying read for you? And what did the teen say about his/her own reading experience?
