[CCBC-Net] LOL Spring 2009 titles

Watch for these two spring titles, both pubbing in April I think:

Soul Enchilada by David Gill (a teen girl with attitude inherits her grandfather's 1958 Cadillac Biarritz only to find he had sold his soul to the devil to pay for it and the repo man has arrived but she says, "No one is taking my wheels.")

SWIM THE FLY by Don Calame (three 15 year old boys with a summer goal of seeing a live naked girl--you can see their schemes melting down even as they are still hatching them, and the main character has agreed to swim the butterfly for his swim team, even though he can't currently make it one length of the pool with this hard stroke.)

Both are laugh out loud funny and will appeal to both boys and girls.

My current favorite is KNUCKLEHEAD by Jon Sciezska. My husband started reading it last night and couldn't stop chuckling. He said, "Oh, I went through a lot of babysitters too, and there were several I wanted to tie up but never did. One tied me up, though." And he remembered some of the things he purchased from the backs of comic books or from Bazooka wrappers and all but one disappointed. He said the flip up sun glasses were really cool and he wore them to play baseball! Don't be mislead by the Gr. 3-6 review designations, this book is for everyone.
