I think Bud Not Buddy can appeal to a huge range of ages. I have a friend who teaches in "alternative" junior and high schools in St. Paul, and he reads to his class. Bud, Not Buddy was a favorite of the kids every year. And again, it has that pathos/humor thing going SO well.

Okay...it's close enough to unanimous at this point. Not to worry. I will post the full list for everyone once we've finished. And I'll call it "The Full List of Funny YA Books" so you won't miss the post. Meantime, I'll keep gleaning great titles from those of you who have enjoyed funny YA books.
This is more Junior Fiction than YA, but I personally thought Bud, Not Buddy was extremely funny....especially his rules and things. And I agree, when you combine humor with strong pathos, we laugh and reflect at once...and it comes from a deep, deep place. Oh the complexity of being a human.
Best to all Angie Miles Ashland, Virginia
