Okay...I can't resist suggesting Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.? It is more than poignant and touching, but his sense of humor is strong throughout.? There are many laugh-out-loud moments (also a little crudeness, mild violence?and age-honest sexuality; be warned).? True Diary, by the way, has won MANY awards this year...and Mr. Alexie appeared recently on The Colbert Report...very funny stuff...and I'm not even his publicist!? Thoroughly enjoyable.
