I teach at Vermont College of Fine Arts, as some of you know, and I'm happy to announce that there's still room in the picture book semester beginning this January. The application deadline has been extended until November 15. From the website:

"The MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults program now offers a Picture Book concentration for enrolled students or a one-semester Picture Book Certificate Program. The Picture Book concentration is an extended-degree program that requires a fifth semester of study. The Picture Book Certificate Program is open to alumni and individuals outside of the program who have relevant advanced degrees. Applicants without advanced degrees will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Picture Book Concentration / Certificate Program is modeled after a regular semester in the MFAWC&YA program, with a few additional components. The faculty advisor for the Spring 2009 Picture Book program is Uma Krishnaswami and Jean Gralley (www.jeangralley.com
<http://vermontcollege.edu/mfawc/www.jeangralley.com>) will be the visiting author/illustrator. In addition, MFWC&YA core faculty member, Julie Larios, will be the workshop co-leader during the January 2009 residency."
