I've been asked by the Wisconsin Book Festival to help spread the word about this post-festival author appearance in Madison...

Kadir Nelson, artist and award-winning children's book illustrator, will be appearing at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. The event is presented as one of the Wisconsin Book Festival's "off-season" events.

Nelson's illustrations grace the pages of works by Spike Lee, Will Smith, Ellen Levine, and many more; he also authored We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball. Illustration credits include Ntozake Shange's Coretta Scott King Award-winning book Ellington Was Not A Street, and Carol Boston Weatherford's Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom, for which he was awarded the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award, a Caldecott Honor, and an NAACP Image Award.
