Please feel free to the next four or five days for your children's and young adult literature-related announcements on CCBC-Net.
Our topics for November and December will be:
November:
*First Part of Month: LOL: Humorous Young Adult Literature.* A lot of attention has been given to the challenging topics and serious issues addressed in young adult literature over the past decade. Let?s lighten up! The truth is there have been laugh-out-loud novels for teens all along, not to mention books that take readers on amazing journeys into difficult topics and deliver humor along the way. Of course, what tickles one?s funnybone is highly subjective, so we want your opinion?what young adult books stand out for their humor in recent years?
*Second Part of Month: "Astonishing Life," Extraordinary Storytelling: M.T. Anderson's "Octavian Nothing." *M. T. Anderson?s radical, revolutionary story, told over two volumes, juxtaposes the struggle for independence and liberty in the American colonies in the years leading up and during the Revolutionary War with the paradox of slavery. During the second half of November, we?ll talk about this 2-volume work of young adult literature.
December:
*Favorites of the Year.* Every December we invite members of the CCBC-Net community to give a shout-out to their favorite books for children and teens published over the past twelve months. What books published in 2008 stand out to you?
