[CCBC-Net] Anne Carroll Moore Lecture at NYPL on Dec. 2

The Office of Children's Programs at The New York Public Library will present the 2008 Anne Carroll Moore Lecture at 9:30 a.m. on December 2 at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in the Langston Hughes Auditorium. Uri Shulevitz will be our honored guest lecturer and will speak on ?My Road to Children?s Books and Why Is the Most Important Picture in a Picture Book Invisible?? Author and illustrator Uri Shulevitz has been writing and illustrating children?s books since 1963. The recipient of many awards and honors, Shulevitz was awarded the Caldecott Medal for The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship and two Caldecott Honor citations for The Treasure and Snow.

Guests are invited to begin the morning with coffee and conversation in the Langston Hughes Atrium. The publication Children?s Books 2008: One Hundred Titles for Reading and Sharing will be available for all. In addition to the lecture, there will be a welcome and presentation from the Schomburg Center and selected librarians from the Annual List Committee will introduce featured titles on Children's Books 2008 to staff. The lecture and festivities will last from 9:30 a.m. till 12 noon.
