My nine-year-old, Norah, read THE LIGHTNING THIEF and then was after me to get her the other books. I am a children's author (who doesn't write fantasy much to her consternation) but I was at a signing event of different indie booksellers and publishers where the Percy Jackson trilogy sat out on display, and Norah stalked the publisher, patting the books, lovingly, until the woman took pity on her and slipped her the trilogy. She devoured the next two and read the fourth in two days. I've never seen her love a series that much. It really took hold of her. She told her sister, "Doesn't it sometimes feel that when you read such good books for so many hours that you don't belong in this world but should stay in the other world just a little longer?" She intends to be Artemis for Halloween. Now, I need to read them. I've started THE LIGHTNING THIEF, and it's pretty wonderful.
