I, too, came to Judy Blume as an adult--and I've admired her work enormously. One of her greatest contributions has been to demystify the sexual aspects of growing up and to show kids honestly, through her wonderfully real characters, that the feelings and curiosity they have aren't "bad."
And I also admire and am grateful for her tireless work against the censorship of books for young people.
