[CCBC-Net] Judy Blume

Thank goodness for Judy Blume! She informed a generation of girls about what they were going through when they were pre-teens -- especially those who either were too shy to ask their mothers, or it wasn't an option. I found it so funny that the other readers who posted had exactly the same memory that I had when I heard that Judy Blume was the topic this month-- passing "Forever" around with my other 6th grade girlfriends and discussing it at great length, marking the "must-read" pages. I think that she really hit a chord with young adult readers because she didn't talk down to them but rather addressed something in a very frank manner that mattered to them.
Since I work with older students, I'm wondering -- do her books still have the same effect on the tweens?
